Polaris is a museum dedicated to everything that has to do with the Arctic and boasts an Arctic aquarium, the most northerly in the world.
The main attraction of the aquarium are the bearded seals, a particularly quiet and intelligent seal species. The structure of the building consists of a series of white blocks representing the ice blocks pushed to the south by the tumultuous waters of the Arctic Seas.
The Elverhay church was built in 1803, this beautiful red wood structure was originally located on the site of the city’s cathedral, but was dismantled and moved to its current location overlooking Tromsø.
The cathedral is a great example of neo-Gothic architecture, it is the most northerly Protestant church in the world and is the only one to have been built entirely of wood.
Tromsø Botaniske Hage is an enchanting natural park, with attention to detail, with many streams and waterfalls and also several stone walkways. You can admire beautiful flowers unusual in the Mediterranean areas.
The Artic Cathedral was built in 1965, the material mainly used for its structure is concrete. Given its unique and original appearance is commonly called, by Tromsø citizens, the “theatre of the Norwegian Opera”.
